Climate Highlights
What makes Grant County's climate so special
Grant County enjoys fairly mild winters, cooler summers than lower altitude locations, and about 18 inches of annual rainfall.
According to the National Weather Bureau, Silver City has the "best annual median temperature" in the nation.
Terrain and elevation vary considerably throughout Grant County, from low desert in Hachita to an altitude of 6,900 feet in the tall pines of Pinos Altos.
The pleasant climate allows residents to enjoy the 18-hole golf course, wilderness trails, and birding opportunities throughout the year.

A Healthy Place to Live
The term "Quality of Life" can mean many different things, but for area residents it means a healthy place to live, work and play. Silver City is listed as one of the top "healthiest places" in the book The 50 Healthiest Places to Live and Retire in the United States, by veteran health and retirement writer Norman Ford.
Nationally, Silver City is ranked in the top 1% of more than 3,100 communities its size and larger. One factor is the lack of urban stress. Another is the "four gentle seasons" enjoyed by locals and visitors. Summer temperatures are usually in the 80's, and winters are mild.
Residents and visitors alike feel strongly about calling this region home, and with today's internet and wireless technologies, almost any business can settle comfortably in our region.
