New Mexico GRT rates for July 2026: the new schedule is in effect

Published by Gila Economic Data Atlas Jul 10, 2026

The Taxation and Revenue Department’s annual rate schedule took effect on July 1 and runs through June 30, 2027. Local GRT rates now change once a year: since July 1, 2025, county and municipal increments can only take effect in July, so this schedule is good for a full year barring special situations.

The state portion stays at 4.875 percent, where it has been since July 2023 (it was 5.125 percent for many years, then 5.0 percent from July 2022).

Every rate combines the 4.875 percent state portion with county and municipal increments tied to your location code.

What to do about it

If you itemize GRT on invoices, confirm your rate against the new schedule before your July filings. Returns for July receipts must use the new schedule even if your point-of-sale software still shows the old rate.

You can check any New Mexico location with our GRT rate lookup, which now runs on the full July 2026 statewide table: every location code, with the state, county, and municipal parts broken out.
