Fast 11's First Look Teases A Major Reunion After Fast X's Cliffhanger Ending (2024)

The first look at Fast 11 teases a major reunion for Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto after Fast X’s cliffhanger ending. The upcoming is expected to pick up right where Fast X’s ending left things off, with Toretto and Little Brian having to find a way of surviving the lethal trap set up by Dante Rayes. In addition to the bridge ambush, Dante also attacked the plane carrying most of Toretto’s team, not to mention the situation Cipher and Letty found themselves in.

Dante Reyes attacked Dominic Toretto’s family from all sides. This is why Fast X’s cast was quite large and featured a lot of old and new faces. Presumably, Fast 11’s team will be even bigger now that characters like Gisele and Hobbs have returned. Although it may be difficult for the entire family to get back together during the film, one reunion is now all but confirmed.

A new piece of concept art for Fast & Furious 11 shared by Vin Diesel (via Instagram) shows Dominic Toretto’s car in the snow. While not much can be inferred from this image alone, the snow setting directly connects to Letty and Cipher’s whereabouts at the end of Fast X. After Aimes, who was secretly working with Dante the whole time, took over the Agency, the mysterious organization went after Toretto and his allies. The Agency captured Letty and Cipher and sent them to a secret prison whose location was only revealed at the end of the film.

Fast X’s ending reveals that Cipher and Letty were in Antarctica during the movie's third act. As soon as they escaped the prison following a staged fight, they surprisingly ran into Gisele, who had seemingly died in Fast & Furious 6. With Fast 11 bringing Dom’s car to a snowy terrain, it is safe to assume he and Letty will reunite soon. Letty and Dom spent most of Fast X separated, with the latter chasing down Dante Reyes as the rest of the Toretto family walked right into the villain’s traps.

Dom reuniting with Letty in Fast 11 also means that Vin Diesel’s character is about to reunite with Gisele, which hasn’t happened since Fast & Furious. How Gisele survived her fall in Fast & Furious 6 and returned in Fast X remains to be revealed, but the Fast Saga is used to retcon deaths already. Gal Gadot’s character first appeared in Fast & Furious 4 as an associate of Braga, a role that was later retconned when Mr. Nobody revealed that Gisele was working for him. It can be assumed that Mr. Nobody was behind Gisele’s fakeout death.

Toretto and Gisele formed a strong in Fast & Furious (2009), which teased a potential romantic relationship that did not move forward. Regardless, it will be interesting to see them reunite, especially because Toretto most likely does not know that Gisele is alive. Another exciting reunion in Fast 11 is that of Han and Gisele, even more considering that, until F9, they were thought to be dead. Fast X took place in multiple locations around the world, and based on the recent Fast 11 concept art, it will be the same for the sequel.

What To Expect From Fast & Furious 11 After Fast X’s Ending

Fast 11 has plenty of characters and cliffhangers to deal with

Fast X was supposed to be the first entry in a two-part finale, which is why it ended on a cliffhanger. Between Dom and Little Brian trapped on a bridge as everything is about to explode and the plane crashes, Fast 11 has two major cliffhangers to resolve. That is not to mention Letty and Cipher’s escape, Gisele’s return from the dead, and the return of Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. Fast X was Fast and Furious’ biggest movie in terms of scale, cast, and even budget, but Fast 11 could be even bigger based on how its predecessor ended.

Assuming Dom and his son will survive the trap set up by Dante Reyes, the villain will have to continue his revenge. It is also safe to assume that Dom’s team did not die in the plane crash. Considering that there were cars and parachutes onboard, the team must have found a way to jump out of the airplane before it crashed. It would not be the first time that Dom’s family got out of an airplane using cars. With Aimes exposed, Fast 11 will have at least two villains hunting down Toretto and his family.

Even if Fast & Furious continues in some form after Fast 11, the upcoming sequel is expected to wrap up the stories of Toretto and his family. Fast 11 has a difficult task ahead of it, though. Not only will the film have to deal with all the characters and cliffhangers set up by Fast X, but it will also have to give Toretto’s family a satisfying ending after over two decades of movies. While it would make sense to bring the Fast Saga back to its roots for the final movie, Fast X's ending makes that difficult.

Will Dom & Letty Have A Happy Ending In Fast & Furious 11?

Dom and Latty have been through a lot already

Dom and Letty’s imminent reunion in Fast & Furious 11 raises the question of whether they will have a happy ending. The couple, whose story goes back to the first Fast and Furious movie, were living their happily ever after in F9 when Jakob Toretto arrived. A similar thing happened in Fast X, at the beginning of which Cipher knocked on their door to warn them about Dante Reyes. Dom and Letty have gone through a lot as a couple, including but not limited to Letty’s death in Fast & Furious (2009).

In Fast Five’s post-credits scene, audiences learn that Letty is alive. In Fast & Furious 6, however, she did not remember who she was. Dom and Letty finally reconnected in Furious 7, which revealed they got married secretly. Given that Fast and Furious has always been about family, there would be no better end to the saga than Dom and Letty finally getting to leave peacefully as a family. It is unlikely that Fast & Furious 11 will kill off Dominic Toretto at the end considering what the character means for the franchise, plus Letty has already died once.
