In this episode of The Rural Voice, we interview Todd Cordrey, the Superintendent of Mancos School District, about project-based learning. In School Year 2020/21, the Mancos Board of Education worked to formalize its strategic plan. Teachers and Parents identified project-based learning that would facilitate long-term learning and apply to the workforce. Cordrey highlighted the importance of student-based learning, where students facilitate active learning by finding their voice in their education. Moreover, businesses are seeking ownership of projects. This opens the opportunity for internships for students scheduling student experiences beyond the classroom. https://ow.ly/BPpe50PSVZr

Thank you to all of the employers and government organizations hosting summer interns, program participants, and mentees. We know that you are serving as a mentor, role model, nurturer, parental figure in somecases, career counselor, and most importantly, a listener. As you support our youth and young adults this summer, know that they may reach out to you for support throughout the year. In some instances, you may be their only support within reach. Whether you believe it or not, what you represent and who you are (even when you are still developing) is more of a witness to greatness than you think. Know that you are a model of success, a model of courage, and a model of encouragement to those learning in the summer employment programming spaces. Keep walking with your head high and be unapologetically committed to supporting each of them. They deserve our best and to know when even we have to reset.Allow them to see the real side of work, how culture strengthens relationships, and how leaders grow when they support every part of the organization. Let them see you.

Question: I want my son to do a summer internship at my company but he doesn’t like the idea of reporting to me. What can I do?Answer: While it might be tempting to oversee and mentor your child yourself (after all, you know your business best!) give the role of supervisor to someone else. 👷By having your child report to another seasoned employee, you give them the space to work 💼 and learn 📈 independently without feeling like you’re standing over their shoulder or pressuring them to perform, even if aren’t. Making your child feel like they’ll be independent in the role will help them feel more at ease and even excited about the opportunity to flex their skills. 💪For even more advice, check out this week’s blog where I’m talking all about inspiring your child to take over the family business. ▶️ https://lnkd.in/dGM4V82K#debbiebabblaw #estateplan #assetprotection #wealthprotection #wealthbuilding #trustsandwills #losangelesestateplan #CAestateplanningattorney #losangelesattorney #familybusiness #smallbusiness #family #familylegacy #personalfamilylawyer #personalfamilylawyerCA #losangelespersonalfamilylawyer #generationalwealth #multigenerationlawyer #peaceofmind #adulting #specialneedsplanning #specialneedstrust #specialneedsadvocate #parenting #familylegacy #guardian #businessplanning #avoidprobate #losangelesmom #CAmom

In this video, we witness a young child participating in an internship program, where she is learning how to deliver a baby as a gynecologist intern. While some may question the appropriateness of such an experience for a child, it is crucial to acknowledge that those who harbor such doubts are often constrained by a limited mindset that hinders their financial success. At an early age, we nurtured Kennedi and Caden as entrepreneurs, laying the groundwork for their future success. By exposing them to diverse experiences and offering guidance from a young age, we instilled the confidence and skills needed to run six-figure companies. To break the cycle of financial struggle and pave the way for generational wealth, it is vital to embrace new opportunities and expose both ourselves and our children to unconventional paths to success. Only by being open-minded and proactive in seeking out new experiences can we elevate ourselves from financial constraints and reach new heights of prosperity. You'll see in this video Kennedi (at 12 years old) shadowed her pediatrician as well as chiropractor and a dear friend of ours Dr Sheva Quinn 12-year-old daughter shadowed her veterinarian today. Early exposure is key 🔥

*INTERN VIDEO CHALLENGE – Video 1*Like many of you, we have interns working with us at this summer. It’s important to us that it’s a mutually beneficial relationship – we get some work out of them and they learn in the process!✅ We do our best to give them as much exposure to different parts of the business as possible. They work with our fixed income and equity teams, help with our corporate access efforts, and spend time on the NYSE trading floor.✅ We thought it would be fun to have them break into teams and make videos about the firm. The idea being that it will be a catalyst for them to take a deeper look at the firm as a whole. We have a couple of groups coming through, so I’m going to put the videos out as I get them.✅ This first video was done by Quamique Marcial (“Q”) and Louis Davis, 2 college students that came to us from the Boys and Girls Club of Harlem, and Conrad Luce. It was interesting to me – and made me happy – to see their take on .This video was done entirely by the interns, and this first group was a little pressed for time. Can’t wait to see what the other teams put together! I would love to hear your thoughts!#interns #internship #summerintern #internchallenge #futureleaders #veteranownedfirm #capitalmarkets #financialliteracy

Through ProX Summer internships, students explored their interests, gained work skills, built their networks, and engaged in real issues in their community. Interns from Second Chance KC, @City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department, and KC Common Good recently shared their experiences on KCUR 89.3: “It's a way that you can go into whatever field that you want. There are so many different internships that they had, so you can like do different things that might tailor to your career or just interest you. And another thing is, it was paid. And I think that's a big thing to say because a lot of the kids that are out here, they need money. They need something to be able to support themselves or their families. So, I think that even just being able to get more opportunities like these internships will also just make such a difference,” said Mia Myers, ProX intern.
